Smile Education Day
On February 26, Dr. Kevin Flanigan and Sharon, one of our registered dental hygienists, gave a presentation to the third grade classes of Ms. Suzanne Wolf and Ms. Jennifer Laidman at St. Mary’s Elementary School in Lancaster, as part of the UB School of Dental Medicine “Smile Education Day.”

This program provides free dental education for third grade students attending elementary schools in the eight counties of Western New York. Over 27,000 children received the benefits of this dental health message in the Buffalo area. February is National Children’s Dental Health month, and the doctors and hygienists at Lancaster Dental Associates have participated in these presentations for the past 13 years.
The 32 children in the classes were treated to an informational and fun break in their regular schedule, learning about dental awareness and the benefits of good oral health. Topics such as tooth brushing, flossing, using the right toothpaste, dental sealants, and early orthodontic intervention were presented.
